Social Media Done Right: Denton PD Twitters Up a Storm of Justice

Denton PoliceThe Denton PD has impressed us with their incredible display of social media. For nine hours last week (8am-5pm), the Denton Police Department used Twitter to broadcast every single call officers were dispatched over.

While social media is often about trying something new, this was all about something old, traditional. We often don’t think about what the police do on a day to day basis, but it was hard to ignore on March 24th. The attending officer also made a show of answering a great number of questions addressed to the department, all the while protecting the identities of parties involved.

TwitterQuestions ranged from “Is that near my house?” to “What situation should I call 911 instead of the police?” The answers were candid, and I personally walked away with a new perspective on the 8-5 lifestyle of Denton PD.

While I’m not sure my Twitter feed could handle this on a daily basis, we applaud the efforts of the team involved. Though, I wonder if they would consider an at night twitter roll…

—- The Denton Police Department can be followed on Twitter, liked on Facebook, but you should probably just call them if you have an emergency.
